I was recently sent a free sample of wooden 8GB USB drives from USB Memory Direct; however, this review reflects my true experience and I was not asked to leave a review in exchange for the sample. My wooden USB drives are a walnut color with my logo engraved on one side. The engraving is of high quality and looks great, with both the graphical and text portion easily recognizable and readable. The wood feels of high quality and is cut neatly. The cap is held on with magnets which make a nice satisfying snap when put on. My only complaint about the exterior is that the wood grain on the cap and body don't line up. The flash memory itself is good, and there is not much to say here -- it holds the data as advertised, and has the expected level of performance for the price, though it is curious that it writes faster than it reads: approx 20 MB/s write and 15 MB/s read (based on ATTO). This is perfectly fine for my application.
